NAADU ADDICO

Born in Ghana and raised in the Bronx, Naadu (also known as Naa) is no stranger to constant music all around her! From the Ghanaian highlife music her mother played when it was time to clean, to the hits of the 90’s she’d sneak to watch on MTV, music has always been a part of her life. 

 

Despite always having music around her, she wasn’t really comfortable dancing around others. At the age of 9, however, she was introduced to Hip-Hop dance through the older kids in her neighborhood and everything changed. Dance became a way to express herself, connect with others, and get out of her shell. As time went on, her love for dance continued to grow. From Hip-Hop dance, she learned West African Dance, a bit of modern, and a bit of contemporary!  

 

While in college, she was part of two dance teams (Flypeople and Hype), where she had the opportunity to continue her love of dance and experiment with different dance styles. While there, she experienced the joys of choreographing and leading various projects. 

 

After graduating college, finding opportunities to dance became scarce and more difficult to fit into her schedule. So, she took a break for some years before being reintroduced to the Each One Teach One Dance Series at Lehman College in 2019. While there, she had the opportunity to join Hip Hop Theory. From Hip Hop Theory, She connected with Heartbreak Crew and the rest (as they say) is history!
